It's that exciting time of year again when breeding plans have been made, this year's kid crop has been sold and the replacement stock is showing great promise.

This breeding season we have rolled out our mating plans with 4 super young bucks:

~ Pryme Cowboys and Angels

~ Pryme Fire Hazard

~ Pryme Pure Profit

~ Pryme Eggstra Sexy

Please take some time to look these pedigrees up to get an idea of what the future looks like for Pryme young stock! We work very hard to plan out these breedings to ensure each generation is a notch above the last; that is about our favourite part of being breeders!

** With 2016 well under way, we have a barn full of bred does set for April/May kidding. Lead herd sires this year are EGGS Eggstra Flash N' Chrome, RRD654, and Pryme Graphic Content.

***We have just recently completed an export shipment of Purebred Boers to Trinidad. We appreciate the opportunity to have provided 5 herd sires and 8 breeding females (all homebred) to help develop the breed further in Trinidad. Some Pryme animals that will no longer have cold Canadian winters!

****The first event of the year is the CMGA AGM being hosted in Ancaster, ON this year! Pryme Farms is proudly sponsoring this event. Best wishes to the planning committee!

Wow! What a year 2015 was! We had a phenomenal kid crop....yes, lots of gorgeous breeding stock kids but also a particularly outstanding variety of market kids that we shipped. Prices were strong at market and quality well finished kids earned had the respect of the buyers.

We had an amazing roster of clients, many were return purchasers and some were new believers! Thank you all for contributing to the success of our business and we sincerely wish you all continued success!

With the growth of our farm now expanding into the dairy cattle industry we did make some changes in our herd. We streamlined our goat operation but make no mistake.....we are still very dedicated to the meat goat industry and have retained a breeding herd that will continue to outproduce themselves with each generation. We made a point of keeping a piece of each of the many phenomenal sires we have used over the years. Our herd remains a true testiment to the planning we have put into every breeding over the years.

Pryme Farms was proud once again to be named the Premier Breeder, Premier Exhibitor, and Premier Herdsman at the prestigious RAWF/CMGA East National Show.

It is a special occasion when the request comes in from SGBA for us to consign something special to their upcoming production sale.

So with great pleasure, here she is!

~ Congratulations/Felicitations to M. Andre Lussier of Fermes Galiman on being the successful bidder on this doe! A great doe sold to a great breeder. The pleasure is ours! ~

"Pryme Talk Is Cheap VG86" (TR26739)

This doe is a Sept. 2011 daughter of the late great Yankee Doodle EX and out of the powerful Kindred Caressa VG85. She is 1 + 1 perfectly clean teated. Udder dries up beautifully. Bite is spot on. She has a big coat in the winter and doesn't bat an eye at a bitter -30. Some of the things we love most about her is that she comes in a moderate sized package, her shoulders are TIGHT, her legs are built for longevity, she is a vocal brood doe that is profitable and independent, she is aggressive enough to hold a place at the feed bunk but isn't tough on her herd mates.
Right now she is at an optimum BCS of 3.5. She has kidded twice and needed zero intervention. Both kiddings were in January and outside.....both times her kids were in the top 6 of our total crop for ADG! Climate means nothing to this gal.
She is the dam of Springvalley Boer's impressive yearling buck "Pryme Pirate Flag VG87". And she is the dam of a growthy 2014 buck that Beatles Boers of SK came to the farm and hand selected.
It gets better.......She was bred Oct. 23rd and 24th by our newest import buck RRD C654!!

We are happy to ultrasound this doe before she leaves for her new farm after the sale.
We have her twin sister in the herd and even still we had to dig down deep to consider offering this doe, she is irreplaceable for us from two of our favourite animals of the past.
We know without a doubt she is the kind of representative we want out there with the 'Pryme' stamp.
Feel free to call or e-mail with any questions about this doe.

Visit the Saskatchewan Goat Breeders Association website for more details about the sale and the online/absentee bidding options!

Please visit our 'Breeding Bucks' page! We have recently posted new photos and updated information on all of our sires....including our latest imports!

We have also updated our 'For Sale' page with some great opportunites to add Pryme genetics to your program.

With the start of our next breeding season only 3 weeks away we have ten very rutty bucks in our buck's time to start working on the next generation of Pryme goats!!

Pryme Farms is Consigning to the 2014 Edition of the 'CMGA Share Your Herd Sale!'

**** Congratulations and Thank-you to Todd Zeller and Family of Beatles Boers in Saskatchewan for purchasing the Pryme Farms consignment! This was the HIGH SELLING LOT in the sale at $3050 and we are pumped to be working with a serious breeder on this offerring!

Wow have we got some news!!

First big deal we have to report is that we have moved our farm! We haven't gone far but we did move to a larger farm with more land base to expand our operation. If you have visited us in the past, we are only about a mile around the corner from where we were.

Our new farm is a great fit for both our business and our family and we are super excited about this new chapter in our lives.

We are currently in the construction process of a new meat goat facility with the first order of business being a 40 X 100 traditional style barn with centre feed alley. This will house our now 200 does and add a new level of efficiency to our setup. The target for completion of this project is January 2014 just as kidding will start.

The second big news is that we have grown our herd significantly. We added almost 100 commercial breeding does to increase the number of market kids we can offer the market. This will also mean that we will have a large number of commercial doelings available to those clients looking at expanding or starting up. Our commercial stock is also CAE tested and we are offering the same quality in that stock that you have come to appreciate in our registered herd.

Last but not least we have to share our results for the 2013 CMGA East National Show held in conjunction with the Royal Winter Fair.

This year we were fortunate enough to haul home the following animals:

Res. Grand Champion Purebred Doe ~ Pryme Style To Burn

Res. Grand Champion Percentage Doe ~ Pryme Scandalous

Junior Champion Percentage Doe ~ Pryme Fabulous

Res. Junior Champion Percentage Doe ~ Springvalley Red Solo Cup

Grand Champion Commercial Doe ~ Pryme Give It To Me Baby

Res. Grand Champion Commercial Doe ~ Cocoa Rose

Grand Champion Market Kid ~ Sired by EGGS Eggstra Flash N' Chrome

1st place 3 and Over Purebred Does ~ Cocoa Ellen

2nd Place 3-6 Month Old Bucks ~ Pryme Shoot Shovel N' SHH

Premier Breeder

Premier Exhibitor

Premier Herdsman

It was an awesome show for us! Big "Congratulations" to all of our clients who did such an outstanding job this year! We are so proud of all of your accomplishments as well!

There are some New Bucks in Town!!

Pryme is pleased to announce the arrival of two new import outcrosses to answer your needs for new bloodlines to use on your current Pryme genetics! You knew we wouldn't let you down, we've always got you covered with the solution to your next steps!

Welcome "BL1 Lindsay Acres Ultra's Poseidon"(16months) & "DGBG Dancing Bull"(7months)

Take a moment to check them out in our Breeding Bucks section........they are the next big things to hit the Canadian Meat Goat Industry. You can continue to trust that when we import a sire we've done the homework to know he is worthy of expanding the gene pool and quality of animals on Canadian soil!

The bucks we have imported to date have proven themselves an asset to the domestic market and have granted measureable success to the Pryme program and that of our clients. As you have come to expect from us........we leave nothing to chance!

August 2013 ~ Our Main Breeding Season is well Underway!

We have 4 bucks working does right now for January/February kids! We have considered each cross specifically (and on 100 does that takes time, effort and thought!) and made careful breeding plans.

Consult our breeding/kidding schedule for information on the small group of does that will be kidding October/November 2013.

We are proud to announce that Ryan is the new CMGA President.

After contributing to the meat goat industry for 11 years Ryan looks forward to serving in this new capacity and working with the board of directors and all CMGA members on continuing to strengthen the meat goat industry in Canada. We believe whole heartedly in the future of this industry and continue to promote meat goat farming as a sustainable agricultural business.

Ryan stands firmly on his belief in hard work, honesty, communication, innovation and forward thinking. Those ideals will certainly enable him to serve the association efficiently and effectively.

Looking forward to seeing everyone throughout 2013!
